What happens to your verification selfie

It's used once, to confirm you're a real person, and stored privately. It's never shown to anyone else and never becomes a profile photo.

When you verify, your phone checks a short sequence (like a head turn or a blink) to confirm a live person is in front of the camera, then compares that against your main profile photo. Both checks happen on your device.

Only the result of that comparison, not the photo itself, is sent to our servers to confirm your account.

The captured selfie is stored in a private location, kept only as long as needed for verification and account safety. No other user, including your matches, ever sees it.

You can read the full detail of what we collect and why in our Privacy Notice.
