Community Guidelines
Welcome to Seacove
Seacove is for cruise ship crew, and only crew. Most of the people you’ll meet here work on ships too. Some of you may already share an employer. Some of you may end up sharing a ship.
That makes trust different here than on a normal dating app. You could run into someone you reported, at breakfast, next week. These guidelines exist so that doesn’t happen, and so Seacove stays a place you can be yourself in, not a place you have to watch your back in.
Everyone who uses Seacove agrees to follow them. If you don’t, we act on it. How we act is below.
1. How to treat people here
- Be honest about who you are. Your photos should be recent and clearly you. Your ship, department and role should be accurate. A fake profile gets removed.
- Ask, don’t assume. Not everyone wants the same kind of conversation. If someone says no, or stops replying, that’s the end of it.
- Keep it respectful, even when someone isn’t interested. Rejection is part of a dating app. Being cruel about it is not allowed here.
- Remember there’s a person on the other side. Crew live close together and work long contracts. A bad interaction on Seacove doesn’t stay inside the app. Write like you’d want to be written to.
2. What’s never allowed
This applies to your profile, your photos, your messages, and anything you send through Seacove.
Harassment and abuse
- Repeated unwanted contact after someone has said no or stopped responding
- Threats, intimidation, or trying to scare someone
- Sharing someone’s private information without their permission, including their cabin number, home address, or ship schedule
- Contacting someone through any other channel after they’ve blocked or reported you on Seacove
Hate
- Attacks on someone for their race, nationality, religion, disability, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation
- Slurs, in any language
Sexual content and conduct
- Nudity or sexually explicit photos, anywhere on your profile
- Sending sexual images or messages to someone who hasn’t agreed to receive them
- Any sexual content involving, or appearing to involve, a minor. This is reported immediately and the account is removed without warning. Our full standards on this, including how to report it and who we report it to, are in Child Safety Standards
Illegal activity
- Buying, selling, or arranging drugs
- Prostitution or solicitation
- Anything else illegal where you or the other person are physically located
Deception and safety
- Impersonating someone else, including another crew member
- Scams, including asking for money, gifts, or financial details
- Under 18. Seacove is for crew 18 and older, and we check this at signup
Misuse of the platform
- Automated or bulk account creation
- Using Seacove to advertise a business, a service, or another app
- Spam
3. Block
Blocking someone removes them from your side of Seacove completely, in both directions.
Once you block someone:
- They disappear from your deck, your matches, your chat list, the Ports tab, and the map. You disappear from theirs.
- Any match you had with them closes. Neither of you can message the other again.
- They are not told that you blocked them.
You can block from any profile or any chat, at any time, for any reason. You don’t need to explain it to us or to them.
Blocking is final in one direction only: you can undo your own block later from Settings, but that doesn’t bring back a closed match or old messages.
4. Report
If someone breaks these guidelines, report them. Reporting doesn’t require you to also block, though we make blocking one tap away when you report.
When you report someone, tell us why (fake profile, harassment, inappropriate photo, underage concern, or another reason you describe) and, if you want, add detail. We aim to review every report within 24 hours.
Reporting a person is private. They are never told who reported them.
You can also report a single message, straight from the conversation, without reporting the whole profile.
5. What happens after a report
A person is reviewing every report, not a machine. Depending on what happened, we can:
- Take no action, if the report doesn’t show a guideline violation
- Send a warning
- Remove a specific piece of content, like a photo or a message
- Suspend an account for a period of time
- Remove an account from Seacove permanently
Anything involving a minor, a threat, or an immediate safety risk is reviewed as a priority and can result in removal without a warning first.
If we take action against your account based on a report, we will tell you what was decided and, at a basic level, why.
A removed account can’t create a new one to come back. If we find one, we remove it too.
6. If you’re worried about your safety
If you’re in immediate danger, contact local authorities or ship security first. Seacove is not able to respond in real time.
For anything else, block and report the person, and consider telling someone on your ship you trust.
7. Changes to these guidelines
We may update this page as Seacove grows. If we make a meaningful change, we’ll let you know in the app before it takes effect.
